Origin and diffusion

An autochthonous breed belonging to the group ‘soft wool’ from Campania. Reared in the high hills, this breed may have been formed by the crossbreeding with Mediterranean sheep ‘with a fat tail’.

Morphological and economic characteristics

Size: medium
Height at the withers:
- Male: 70-75 cm
- Female: 55-60 cm
Weight:
- Male: 60-65 kg
- Female: 45-50 kg

White coat, the spiral-shaped horns are present in males.
It is reared for either meat or milk.
