Origin and diffusion

Other name: Pustera Gigante, Nobile di Badia, Gadertaler - in Germany, Tedesca di Pusteria, Sextner, Tauferer, Aurina.
This breed may come from Tyrol, although there is no certain news about its origin. It was probably crossed with Lamon sheep. It is reared in Sued-Tyrol/Alto-Adige (Val Gardena and Val Pusteria).

Morphological and economic characteristics

Size: medium
Height at the withers:
- Male: 75 cm
- Female: 65-70 cm
Weight:
- Male: 55-60 kg
- Female: 50 kg

The coat is white-straw yellow. No horns in both sexes.
Uses: meat and wool.
