Origin and diffusion

Also known by: Bergamasker, Gigante di Bergamo, Bergamacia (Brazil).
Origin: composite of Ovis aries sudanica.
The Bergamasca is found in the Lombardy, region of northern Italy.  It is the basic breed of the Lop-eared Alpine group and is polled.  It is coarse wooled meat breed.  The Bergamasca is the foundation of the other Lop-eared Alpine breeds and of Fabrianese.

Height at the withers:
- Male: 87 cm
- Female: 79 cm
Weight:
- Male: 111 kg
- Female: 80 kg

Uni coloured: white.
Uses: meat.
