Origin and diffusion

The Pinzirita breed (or Siciliana locale, Siciliana comune, Nostrana, Piperita) is found in the area surrounding Sicily in southern Italy.  It is a coarse wool breed kept for milk and meat production. 

Morphological and economic characteristics

Size: medium-small
Height at the withers:
- Male: 75 cm
- Female: 64 cm
Weight:
- Male: 72 kg
- Female: 47 kg

They have black or brown marks on the face and legs.  The males are horned and the females are polled.
Uses: milk.
