Origin and diffusion

The probabile origin of this breed is situated on the Mount Lepini, Ausoni and Aurunci ( provinces of Rome, Frosinone, Latina, - Latium) where it is still bred. Quite rarely Capestrine goat are bred, more often they are bred with Ciociare, Monticelliane goats and hybrids.

Morphological and economic characteristics

Height at the withers:
- Male: 93-94 cm
- Female: 74-79 cm
Weight:
- Male: 85 kg
- Female: 46-53 kg

The coat is black or seal black, the limbs are often light coloured and some of them have a sort of pattern on the head. Both sexes have horns. It is mainly bred for kids production, much less for milk.
