Origin and diffusion

Area of origin: Province of Potenza, Basilicata Region.
Composite of local breeds, Cilentana, Garganica and probably Girgentana.
The breed is adapted to the local environment (hills, where arid soils are predominant).

Morphological and economic characteristics

Size: medium
Height at the withers:
- Male: 80 cm
- Female: 70 cm
Weight:
- Male: 70-80 kg
- Female: 50 kg

Uni coloured: grey, black, brown, also other colours. With large horns.
Production of milk per lactation: 300-350 kg.
