Origin and economic characteristics

Although it has recently been selected in Lombardia, the Nero d’Italia comes from a common breed of black turkeys from northern Italy, probably originated from the ancient French Noir de Sologne.

Morphological characteristics

Mean weight:
- Male: 4-6 kg
- Female: 2,5-3,5 kg

Small size: these animals have quite short tarsus, from dark red to violet, to intense black.
They have a black plumage and white skin.
